Major industrial project deliveries
In 1993, Outokummun Metalli Oy launched the most significant project in its history. Talc elutriating equipment, transfer piping and storage containers were manufactured and installed for Finnminerals Oy (presently Mondo Minerals Oy) in Cuijk, the Netherlands. We also carried out several other projects for Mondo Minerals Oy in connection with the extension of their talc plant. We were also awarded major contracts in connection with the extension of Enocell Oy’s Uimaharju pulp mill as well as various equipment modernisation and maintenance projects.
Co-operation between Outokummun Metalli Oy and Outokumpu Oy continued in 2000, when Outokumpu Oy’s Pyhäsalmi mine (presently INMET Corporation Pyhäsalmi Mine) ordered ore processing equipment on a turnkey basis (design, manufacture, installation and testing). In this demanding project most of the equipment was installed in a mine 1,400 metres below ground.
Large projects for the mining industry continued in 2002, when the Avesta Polarit Chrome Oy Kemi Mine ordered an ore processing conveyor system for the Kemi mine, including conveyor belts for a new underground mine.
In 2005, Outokummun Metalli delivered a talc reception and loading system for the Nuottasaari port in Oulu. Our latest project delivery was to Talvivaaran kaivososakeyhtiö Oy in Talvivaara in 2008. The project involved the design, manufacture and installation of a conveyor system for burnt lime and limestone.
